Staying In Your Strength Zone
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. Colossians 1:16
People do not pay for average, they try to avoid it! You have to stay in your strength zone! If you are not sure what your strengths are, here are some suggestions:
- Talk to God. After all, who knows the product better than the manufacturer? Contrary to popular books, gurus and seminars, you will not discover your life's meaning by looking within yourself. You have probably tried that. You did not create yourself so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for. If someone handed you a gadget you had never seen before you would not know its purpose. The gadget itself would not be able to tell you either. Only the manufacturer (or the owner's manual) can tell you that. Are you getting the idea?
- Trial and error. Remember how you learned to walk? You spent more time on your bottom than you did on your feet. Eventually you succeeded because you were born to walk. But a word of caution: anytime something seems to be all 'trial' and you never make any progress, consult God, and be prepared for some new instructions.
- The counsel of others. Solomon says, 'The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice' (Proverbs 12:15). Never be too proud to seek help. Asking others for feedback is not always fun, but it is essential. But again a word of caution: choose people who have no agenda other than to help you. Bottom line: the more you stay in your strength zone, the more fruit God will bear through you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Show me and teach me your ways – and give me understanding to use that which you have enabled me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
