Changing Your Family Dynamics!

Mark Twain said he spent a lot of money tracing his family tree, then twice as much trying to keep it a secret! That reminds me of the family that wanted its history written, so they hired a professional biographer. However, they were worried about Uncle George, the black sheep of the family who had been executed in the electric chair for murder. 'No problem,' said the biographer. 'I will say that Uncle George occupied a Chair of Applied Electronics at an important government institution. He was attached to his position by the strongest of ties, and his death came as a real shock.' When it comes to your upbringing or your family's past, you cannot do much except learn from it. But you can do a lot about your future! Your parents may have stumbled in spiritual blindness but you can walk in the light - and take your family with you! Gideon grew up in a family of idol worshippers. One night God told him, '...Tear down your father's altar...Then build a proper kind of altar to the Lord...' (Judges 6:25-26). Was that easy? No, by nature Gideon was very fearful. Furthermore the townsfolk wanted to stone him for doing it. But he surrendered his life to God, and ended up changing his entire family! So, who is going to change your family dynamics? If not you, who? If not now, when? Gideon discovered that when you work with God, He works with you. So, with God's help, you can change the dynamics in your family - starting with yourself!

Heavenly Father, help me to work on the legacy of my family and learning from our past as we move forward. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
