Dating
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6
There's nothing like a few 'dud dates' to make you more selective. Now, while being selective limits your options, it does improve the quality of your relationships. Unfortunately there's no definitive test to predict how a date will ultimately work out, but here are five questions you should ask: 1) What's my first impression? For example, who does your date hang out with? What kind of parties do they enjoy? Do they drink? Smoke? Swear? Do drugs? This kind of information can save you untold heartache. And, not to judge a book by its cover, until you really get to know somebody, what else can you go by? 2) How well do I know them? Isn't it wiser to date somebody you've known for a while, instead of a stranger? 3) Are they courteous/respectful of others? Nothing's worse than a man who brags about his previous conquests or a woman who constantly criticizes her ex. Would you trust them with your reputation or your heart? 4) Are our values in sync? Opposites may attract, but that's not a good rule when it comes to values. You need to know that your date's a committed Christian who lives by their convictions. What kind of standards do they have about things like money, morals and movies? 5) Do they keep their promises? In previous relationships did they flirt, cheat or remain loyal? A promise-breaker usually becomes a heartbreaker! God says, When you 'Seek His will...He will direct your paths,' so pray about these five things before you date.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me guide my children in their dating so that they have the correct “eyes” going into a date. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
