Do You Ponder?
Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. – Psalm 111:2
According to Dictionary.com ponder means, ‘to give thorough or deep consideration (to); meditate (upon)’. This is more than a passing thought or sideways glance. To ponder takes time and focus. In Rocky Mountain National Park there are many good places to ponder. You can take Trail Ridge Road up above the tree line to a viewing platform overlooking the mountains and valleys and get lost giving thorough consideration to the Maker of Heaven and Earth who brought all this into being.
Go to www.hubblesite.org to view images from the Hubble Telescope and try not to spend hours marveling at the stunning pictures. There is such delight to be found in the works of the Lord. Ponder them and be drawn into worship. Allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the awesomeness of God. Be humbled by the majesty. When you do, ponder this…the God who made all this, where on just one mountainside a person could hide and never be found, has made himself known to you. He has revealed his identity, broken into our lives and called us into relationship. That is the greatest work of all worthy of our pondering. If you delight in the works of the Lord, take time to ponder them today and regularly set aside time to go to those places where wonder can be renewed in you.
Prayer (adapted from Psalm 111)
Lord, glorious and majestic are your deeds, and your righteousness endures forever. You have caused your wonders to be remembered and have shown the people the power of your works. May I take the time to ponder these things. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
