When It Comes To Money

"But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. 1 Chronicles 29:14

When it comes to money, always keep three things in mind:

1) God owns everything! Your name may be on the account, but don't get any mistaken ideas. Listen: '...all things come from You, and of Your own [hand] we have given You' (1 Chronicles 29:14). So when God tells you to give a certain amount or to a particular cause, don't say: 'I'll think about it,' for beyond every act of obedience there's a blessing waiting. God said, 'Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to...keep all My commands always, so that it might go well with them...' (Deuteronomy 5:29). Want things to go well for you? Then do what God says!

2) God is your source! Remember, every good thing you have came from Him! It's okay to enjoy your money, just don't trust in it. Paul says, '...trust [only]... in... God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy' (1 Timothy 6:17).

3) Every spending decision is a spiritual decision! Your check book reflects your values and priorities. So, what does yours say? When it came to giving, the Macedonian Christians were a class act. Listen: 'They gave not only what they could afford, but far more...their first action was to dedicate themselves to the Lord and...whatever directions God might give to them through us' (2 Corinthians 8:3-5). When God has access to your heart He'll have access to your finances. True financial freedom comes when giving no longer threatens your security, because you know that God's the supplier of your every need!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me be the best manager of what you entrust to my care, following your directives and not my whims. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
