Little Things Matter

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. Luke 16:10

When Michelangelo was painting the frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel he spent endless hours lying on scaffolding, perfecting the details. A friend, curious about why he took such pains with stuff that could only be seen from a distance, asked, 'But who'll know whether or not it's perfect?' Michelangelo replied, 'I will!' Jesus said: 'Whoever can be trusted with a little can...be trusted with a lot...' Before God will trust you with a greater assignment He'll test you with a lesser one. The only way to know if you're ready for more is to look at how you're handling what you've already got. God won't promote you beyond your current level of competence or commitment; He'll keep bringing you back to certain areas until you get them right. In fact the Israelites, who didn't trust Him to lead them into the Promised Land, died walking in circles just 11 miles from it. So close! So sad!

As you walk with God He'll increase your faith by testing you in areas that only require a little faith. If you pass, He'll place you in circumstances that require more faith. Each time you're willing to trust Him at a higher level He'll reveal a little more of Himself and entrust to you a greater measure of blessing - that's how it works! Every small step of faith leads to a deeper, richer and more rewarding relationship with Him. So, how are you handling the little things today?

Prayer
Heavenly Father – keep me faithful with the little things, trusting YOU to move me when ready to bigger things for you. In Your Precious Name, Amen
