But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, - 1 Peter 3:15

A virus is passed through contact. It can be airborne or waterborne or carried by another human being. In this day and age viruses can spread quickly all over the world. All it takes is someone infected with the virus getting on a plane and traveling to another city or another country. Everyone on the plane is exposed and everywhere they go the virus goes with them.

Perhaps it’s not the most appealing analogy, but I think Jesus’ call to go and make disciples of all nations was an invitation to spread a virus…but in a good way. It only happens by contact. If we keep the love, grace, mercy and compassion of Jesus to ourselves it’s much harder for others to get infected with it. However, if we follow Peter’s encouragement and are always ready to give an answer for the hope that we have the virus can spread quickly. Imagine a world where everyone is filled with the love of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit and an overwhelming desire to share with others.

Now stop imagining and go spread the virus.

Dear Lord, thank you for giving me a love that is infectious and overwhelming. Make me always ready to give an answer for the hope that is in me and to spread that hope to all with whom I come in contact. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
