Living Up to Your Potential
"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be".
Psalm 139:16b
'What is the meaning of life?' is one of the classic philosophical questions of all time. Most often what we're really asking is, 'What is the meaning of my life?' Attempts to find the answer to that question have driven people to chase after all sorts of solutions. Money. Fame. Titles. Relationships. Ultimately these temporal pursuits leave an empty, hollow lack of fulfillment echoing around our souls and the question remains. Have you ever found yourself saying, 'There's got to be more than this'?
There is more. So much more. And the amazing thing is it was ordained and written down even before you were born. All your days are known by God. That sense of dissatisfaction you have in the earthly things you're chasing is God's built in alarm letting you know you're not living up to your potential. You're meant for something more than the stuff the world tells you is important. But you won't find it as long as your ears are tuned to the flings, fads and fantasies of this world. The only way to be all you were created to be is to relentlessly seek the One who has it all written down. Jesus said, 'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.' (Matthew 7:7-8)
Now here's the simple truth. Your potential isn't yours and it isn't about you. It was baked into you before you were born by the One who created you. You are made for His purposes according to His will and the only way to know the true meaning of your life is to ask Him. He has it written down.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for creating me for a purpose. I long to know and follow your will for my life by the power of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name I pray. Amen.

Awesome, Tim! I'm forwarding this to my 28 students getting confirmed in 2 weeks, and suggesting they bookmark the link ... or even subscribe! Thank you!
