Temptation
Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"
Matthew 4:10
After fasting forty days and nights in the desert, Jesus was tempted by Satan. Christ used scripture to rebuke the devil (Matthew 4:1-11). We must do likewise. The Holy Bible provides us with a perfect blueprint for righteous living. If we consult that blueprint daily and follow it carefully, we build our lives according to God’s plan.
We live in a world that is overflowing with opportunities to stray from God’s will. Ours is a society filled with temptations, a place where it is all too easy to disobey God. We, like our Savior, must guard ourselves against these temptations. We do so, in part, through prayer and through a careful reading and applying the Word of God in every area of our lives.
The battle against Satan is ongoing. Be vigilant, and call upon your Heavenly Father to protect you. When you petition Him with a sincere heart, the Lord will be your strength and your shield. He is your helper in times of need.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, This world is filled with temptations, distractions, and frustrations. When I turn my thoughts away from You and Your Word I suffer bitter consequences. But, when I trust in Your will, I am safe. Direct my path far from the temptations and distractions of the world. Help me to keep my eyes focused upon You and empower me to follow You wherever you lead me. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen

Dear Mr. Hetzner,
Thank You Kindly for the devotional for today. Everyday I pray for strength from the LORD that I may always remember HIS will. Today I am practicing new behaviors that are sometimes hard for me. I am watching the words I use and remembering to stay calm at times when my environment is challenging. Have a blessed day Mr. Hetzner.
