An Inside Job
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27
The Virgin birth is not just part of the Christmas story. It illustrates how close God wants to get to us! In a sense, God is asking you the same question He asked Mary, 'Are you willing to let me in?'
Notice, Jesus told the disciples, '...I am in you' (John 14:20). Paul prayed, '...that Christ may dwell in your hearts...' (Ephesians. 3:17). John said, 'Those who obey...live in him, and He in them...' (1 John 3:24). And again Paul wrote, '...Christ in you, the hope of glory.' Then he added, '...it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me...' (Galatians 2:20). Jesus promised, '...If any one...opens the door, I will come in...' (Revelation. 3:20). Are you getting the idea? All He asks is an invitation and an open heart.
In the Old Testament God was with Adam and Eve in the Garden. He was with Abraham and called him His friend. But, modern-day Mary, He is in you. And He will keep growing in you until He comes out in what you say, how you live and the decisions you make.
Struggling with bitterness? Worry? Unforgiveness? Bad habits? Not Jesus! And since He is living in you, you have full access to His awesome power! That is why Paul talks about, '...striving according to His power, which mightily works within me' (Colossians 1:29). Today God is looking for trust, not talent. When the Angel appeared to Mary she said, '...may it be done [in me] according to your word...' (Luke 1:38). Make that your prayer too!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, by your Holy Spirit work in my life to bring newness and rebirth that only you can do in, with, through, and sometimes in spite of me! In Jesus' Name, Amen
This seems so appropriate today for all who may read it. Because of the let-down of the Christmas Day, the days following don't seem, to me, to hold as much faith as there was on Christmas day. Perhaps out focus was more on worldly conflicts or even on out innter conflicts. Fix it by praying that God will take your problems into the Palm of His Hand andsquuze out the problems you are suffering over.
May God Bless and keep you, J & B and your family and give you the peace you so need at this time, another time of the Satan's interruption in your lives.
