Life Stinks

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Sometimes life stinks. Every day you arise to attack the day. But some days go every way but the way you intended. It’s a bad hair day, your car won’t start, and the rat race is at full speed. Still, all that is trivial when something serious happens – something that tries every ounce of your faith: your mother dies, your spouse is seriously injured, or your child goes wayward. Life-changing events are like rocks upsetting the tranquil pond of life. They can ripple through the hearts and lives of many as the lasting effects set in. Why does our all-powerful God let His children experience the darker sides of life?

The Bible says trials are beneficial to us. Matthew 5:4 says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Life’s trials and tribulations are not just something God lets us experience while He looks on idly. They’re an integral part of growing in our spiritual lives.

Have you ever prayed that God would use you? Maybe you prayed big, wanting Him to use you in an important way at a worldwide level. Maybe you prayed small, wanting Him to use you to make a difference in little ways, helping people you pass in daily life. There’s nothing wrong with praying like this. It’s great when God’s people rise to the challenge of serving. But we have a tendency to forget that in order to prepare us for His service; He may bring us through a time of training and seasoning.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, when I experience the challenges of this day I ask that You would help me keep my eyes upon You. You are my refuge and my strength in these days of trials and tribulations. Empower me to keep my faith and trust in You and to share with others this great hope that I have in You. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen

He is always in our loves - and sometimes we feel Him ore than ever.
