The Body of Christ

“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.”
Romans 12:4-6

God wants you to understand the way He created you. He wants you to recognize and celebrate your gifts. Rather than compare yourself with others and think either too highly or too lowly of yourself, He wants you to take responsibility and use the gifts He’s entrusted you with to the best of your ability.

Imagine all the different gifts represented in your church. If everyone had the same abilities, it’d be a very boring church. What if you were all teachers or childcare workers? What if everyone was in the choir? It would be quite crowded up in the choir loft. Instead of giving everyone identical gifts, God created each of us with unique abilities, so when we come together as a church we benefit each other, build each other up, and glorify Him!

Be thankful for the abilities God has given you. Rejoice in what you have been blessed with, knowing God has given you specific gifts for a reason, and it’s your responsibility and privilege to develop and use them to His glory.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You have wonderfully made me with special gifts and abilities. I am a part of something much bigger than myself and ask that You would empower me use my uniqueness to be a benefit to others, to build others up and to glorify You. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
