What Are You Focusing on?

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:1-2 

What are you focusing on? Is yours a life of moderation or accumulation? Are you more interested in the possessions you can acquire or in the person you can become?

Ours is a highly complicated society, a place where people and corporations vie for your attention, for your time, and for your dollar. Don’t let them succeed in complicating your life! Keep your eyes focused instead upon God.

If your material possessions are somehow distancing you from God, discard them. If your outside interests leave you too little time for your family or God, slow down the merry-go-round, or better yet, get off the merry-go-round completely. Remember: God wants your full attention, so don’t let anybody or anything get in His way.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for the perfect example of how to live, Your Son, Jesus Christ. May I keep my eyes focused on You and join You in what You are doing in the world around me. Help me to follow You and to serve and love those whom You place along my path. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
