Developing Disciples

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”
2 Peter 3:18

When will you be a Fully Developed Disciple of Jesus Christ? Hopefully never – or at least not until you arrive in heaven! As a believer living here on planet earth, you’re never fully grown; you always have the potential to keep growing.

Many of life’s most important lessons are painful to learn, but spiritual growth need not take place only in times of pain and hardship. Whatever your circumstances, God is always standing at the door; whenever you are ready to reach out to Him, He will answer.

In those quiet moments when you open your heart to God, the One who made you keeps remaking you. He gives you direction, perspective, wisdom, and courage. And, the appropriate moment to receive those spiritual gifts is always the present one.

Would you like the time-tested formula for spiritual growth? Here it is; study God’s Word, obeying His teachings, pray (and listening for answers) and seek to live where God is at work. When you do, you may be able to avoid becoming a “stagnant” believer. You will instead, be a Developing Disciple of Jesus Christ… and that’s precisely what God wants you to be.

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to keep growing spiritually and emotionally. Empower me to live according to Your Word and to grow in my faith as I trust and follow you today. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
