Life’s Lessons

He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise.
Proverbs 15:31

One way that we learn about God is by learning the lessons that He is trying so desperately to teach us. But when it comes to learning God’s lessons, most of us can be quite hardheaded. Why? Because we are, by nature, stubborn creatures; and because we seem destined, at times, to make things hard on ourselves. As we go about the business of learning life’s lessons we can either do things the easy way or the hard way, the easy way can be summed up as follows: when God tries to teach us something, we learn it…the first time! Unfortunately, too many of us (like myself) learn much more slowly than that. When we resist God’s instruction, He continues to teach, whether we like it or not. Our challenge, then, is to discern God’s lessons from the experiences of everyday life. Hopefully, we learn those lessons sooner rather than later because the sooner we do so, the sooner He can move on to the next lesson and the next, and the next…

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I have so much to learn. Help me to watch, to listen, to think, and to learn what You are trying to teach me. Guide me by Your Holy Spirit so I can be a moldable and teachable follower of Jesus Christ. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
