Looking In The Mirror
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
John 15:9
Being patient with other people can be difficult. But sometimes, we find it even more difficult to be patient with ourselves. We have high expectations and lofty goals. We want to receive God’s blessings now, not later. And, of course, we want our lives to unfold according to our own wishes and our own timetables – not God’s. Yet throughout the Bible, we are instructed that patience is the companion of wisdom. Proverbs 16:32 teaches us that: “Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.” God’s message is clear: we must be patient with all people, beginning with that person who stares back at us each time we gaze into the mirror.
Faith in God leads to self-acceptance. Without God, an individual may be plagued with doubts about self-worth and self-esteem. But, the thoughtful believer knows that God created them in His image, that they are deeply loved and called by name to be sons and daughters, princes and princesses of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Bible affirms the importance of self-acceptance by exhorting believers to love others as they love themselves (Matthew 22:37-40). I want you to know without a doubt that you are loved by your Heavenly Father. The past is the past. You are a forgiven children of God with a bright future. Your hope is in the Lord and you are a work in progress!!! Remain in the Potters hands as He continues to mold you into the usable vessel that He desires.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I have so much to learn and so many areas in my life that need improvements. Thank You for loving me and for sending Your Son. Help me to become the person that You want me to become. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
