When Doubt Arises

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
Psalm 94:19

Have you ever felt your faith in God slipping away? If so, you are not alone. Even the most faithful followers of Jesus Christ are overcome by occasional bouts of fear and doubt, and so, too, will you.

Doubts come in several shapes and sizes: doubts about God, doubts about the future, and doubts about our own abilities, for starts. And what, precisely, does God's Word say in response to these doubts? The Bible is clear: when we are plagued by doubts, of whatever kind, we must draw ourselves nearer to God through worship and through prayer. When we do so, God, the loving Father who has never left our sides, draws ever closer to us (James 4:8).

Will your faith be tested from time to time? Of course it will be. And will you have doubts about God's willingness to fulfill His promises? Perhaps you will. But even when you feel far removed from God, God never leaves your side, not for an instant. He is always with you, always willing to calm the storms of life. When you sincerely seek His presence - and when you genuinely seek to establish a deeper, more meaningful relationship with His Son - God is preparing to touch your heart, to calm your fears, to answer your doubts, and to restore your soul.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes this world can be a puzzling place. When I am unsure of my next step, help me to be aware that You are always near. Empower me to remember that with Your love and Your power, I can live courageously and faithfully today and every day. I pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen
