Sharing Your Story

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15

Do you have a story to share with others? A story of how God has impacted your life and made a difference in who you are? Have you shared your story yet? In his second letter to Timothy, Paul shares a message to believers of every generation when he writes, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity” (1:7). Paul’s meaning is clear: When sharing our stories (testimonies), we, as Christians, must be courageous, up-front and unashamed. But sometimes, because we are fearful that we might be rebuffed, we may be slow to acknowledge the changes that Christ has made in our lives. Nonetheless, we must rise above our fears in order to share the story of Jesus with a world that desperately needs to hear His story.

When we let others know the details of our faith, we assume an important responsibility: the responsibility of making certain that our actions give credibility to our words. Once we have shared our stories, we must also be willing to serve as shining examples of righteousness – undeniable examples of the changes that Jesus make in the lives of those who trust in Him as their Lord and Savior.

Are you willing to follow in the footsteps of Jesus? If so, you must also be willing to talk about Him. And make no mistake: the time to express your belief and trust in Him is now. You know how He has touched your own heart; help Him do the same for others.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father. Empower me today to share the Good News of Your Son Jesus. May the life I live and the words I share bear witness to my faith and trust in Him. You have given me a story to share with others. Help me to share my faith with others so that they, too, might commit their lives to Christ and receive His grace. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
