Teachable Moments

"Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.'"
2 Kings 20:5

From time to time, all of us face life-altering disappointments that leave us breathless. Oftentimes, these disappointments come unexpectedly, leaving us with more questions than answers. But even when we don't have all the answers - or, for that matter, even when we don't seem to have any of the answers - God does.

If your faith is being tested by difficult circumstances, perhaps it's time to ask yourself three important questions:

1. How does God want me to respond?
2. What does God want me to learn?
3. Where does God want me to go from here?

Hidden within every disappointment is the potential for personal and spiritual growth. Life's darker days are filled with "teachable moments" - moments that offer unique learning opportunities. During these moments, God has things that He wants to say specifically to you. You, in turn, need to have a teachable spirit and be open for instruction.

Your Heavenly Father has a perfect plan and a chosen path for all of His children, including you. When tough times arrive, learn from your experiences and prayerfully seek God's guidance. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you through the difficult and rewarding work of overcoming your disappointments and rest assured that in His time, God will do His part in turning your stumbling blocks into stepping stones.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, when I am disappointed, give me perspective and faith. When I am weak, give me strength. When I am fearful, give me courage for the day ahead. Empower me by Your Spirit to trust in Your promises and live with the assurance that You are with me not only for this day, but also throughout all eternity. I pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen
