Vexed
And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
Judges 16:16
When you're vexed, you're vulnerable. Before Delilah destroyed Samson, she "vexed [him] unto death." When you're vexed long enough, you'll make bad decisions - potentially harmful ones. You can attend church regularly and read your Bible from cover to cover, but it'll do you little good if you're running around vexed. It's hard to live with a vexed person and almost impossible to help them. You can't bless anybody who has a vexed spirit because their mind is in the grips of a negative force. Samson should have been more discerning. Joseph ran from Potiphar's wife and won; Samson stayed with Delilah and lost. There are some things you ought to run from, and we're not just talking about sin. No, we're talking about anything that drains you, diverts you, or causes you to lose your vision. And the older you get the more important this becomes, because now you have less time. "What should I do when I'm vexed?" First, check the company you keep! How do they influence you? Next, worship! Worship and serve others in need, this enables you to get back your spiritual equilibrium. As you focus on God, He floods your soul with peace and gives you back your stability. It's the ultimate therapy. Only when you've worshiped and served those in need are you ready to experience the healing effects of God's Word. Today, if you're sick of being vexed, lift up your heart and say, "Father, I worship You. I'm tired of this. I don't like what I'm becoming. Create in me a clean heart and renew in me a right spirit." Go ahead, try it and see what happens! AMEN
