Comfort In Suffering
Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Romans 8:17
When we read Luke 23:32-43, we see that Jesus suffered many tortures before He was crucified. He was mocked and ridiculed throughout the whole process. Yet, Jesus had the heart of forgiveness. He forgave those who were responsible for His death. He knew His death was important to save the world, and He paid the price willingly.
In His darkest hour, He was able to help one of the thieves hanging with Him. The one thief was saved and promised a place in heaven.
When we are suffering, we can often find peace within ourselves by helping someone who is in need. I have many times gained strength during a troubled time by helping someone else. We must always remember that as great as our pain may seem or as bad as our situation may be, there is always someone worse off or suffering from greater distress. We can gain hope and strength during our bad times by helping others.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, on this Good Friday when we observe what your Son has gone through for us - help me share in that suffering so that I, like you, can bring comfort and hope to others who are suffering! In Jesus' Name, Amen

Today's devotion is great! What a "life lesson".
