Your Best Days Are Ahead
For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed...
Genesis 4:25
God promised that Eve’s children would bless the world. But now one of them is dead, the other’s on the run and everything’s fallen apart. Ever been there? Just because your plan fails doesn’t mean God’s plan will! Listen: ‘And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew’ (Genesis 4:25). God can make you successful again! Notice the word ‘another’. When God gives you another chance or another relationship or another career, it won’t be a continuation of the bad experiences you had in the last one. No, it’ll be ‘another’ unlike anything you’ve had before. Your future begins with Seth! Notice, Genesis chapter 5 begins, ‘This is the book of the generations of Adam. And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat ’Seth: And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters’ (Genesis 5:1-4). But what happened to Cain and Abel? They’re not mentioned. They didn’t make it into the book! Genesis 5 isn’t just another chapter of the past. It marks the beginning of something new! And it gets better. Adam lived another 800 years and produced more sons and daughters. Wow! The birth of Seth unblocked the blessings of God! Are you getting the idea? Your best days are ahead, because your future is not tied to what you’ve lost. No, it’s right in front of you, so rise up and seize it!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for being the God of second (and third, and fourth...) chances! In you I have a new day each day. Thank you for that and not holding failings against me. In Jesus Name, Amen
