Are You A Worshipper?
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
John 4:23
Worship is a universal urge, built by God into every fiber of our being - it's as natural as breathing. If we fail to worship God, we always find a substitute, even if it ends up being ourselves. The reason we were made this way is because "the Father seeks worshippers" (John 4:23). Depending on your religious background, you may need to expand your understanding of worship. For example: (1) Worship’s far more than music. Some folks say, "At our church, we have the worship first, then the teaching." No, it’s all done for God’s glory! If worship's just music, then what about all those poor souls who can't carry a tune in a bucket? (2) Worship's not a style. The music style you prefer says more about you than it does about God. One group's music style usually sounds like 'noise' to another. But not to God - He loves variety, so He enjoys it all. (3) Worship's not for your benefit. When you say, 'I didn’t get anything out of the worship today', you worshipped for the wrong reason. Sure, there are benefits to worship, but we don’t worship to please ourselves. Our motive should be to glorify God - in whatever we do! (4) Worship isn’t confined to church. Martin Luther said, "A dairymaid can milk cows to the glory of God." The secret of true worship is doing everything 'as unto the Lord.' Listen: "Take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life - and place it before God as an offering" (Romans 12:1). Then you’re a worshipper!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me see that how I live my life 24/7 is my worship expression to you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
