First Things First
...My mother's sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I have neglected.
Song of Solomon 1:6
Tony Campolo writes, “Growing up, I knew a man who loomed larger than life to me. He was Edwin Bailey. He ran the astronomical observatory at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. I would go there most Saturdays just to spend time with him. His encyclopedic mind fascinated me. He knew something about everything. I was friends with him until he died several years ago. Once, after he’d suffered a serious stroke, I went to visit him in the hospital. In an effort to make small talk I told him about all the places where I’d been to speak and how I’d come to his bedside right from the airport. He heard me out. Then looking questioningly at me he asked, ‘You go all over the world to people who, ten years from now, probably won’t remember your name, but are you taking time for those who really matter?’ That question changed my life. I’ve decided not to let my time be used up by people for whom I make no difference, while neglecting those for whom I’m irreplaceable. A pastor friend of mine was recently invited to the White House to consult the President. Quite an honor. But he said ‘No,’ because he’d promised to be at a Little League final where his son was playing baseball. The nation and the President survived just fine without him. His son, however, never felt so loved or valued as he did that day.” Get the point? Then begin putting first things first!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me get my priorities right! Amen

I couldn’t agree more with this mornings devotion, I am always saying to people these are life’s priorities:
1. GOD FIRST
2. FAMILY NEXT (means entire Christian family not just blood)
3. THEN ALL THE REST (and most of the rest doesn’t really matter, even though we like to think it does)
