Focused Living

All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
Philippians 3:15

There are four great benefits to focused living: (1) It simplifies life! When you don’t know your purpose, you try to do too much - and that causes stress, fatigue and conflict. You’ve only enough time and energy to do God’s will. Not getting everything done may be an indicator that you’re doing more than God intended you to do. Focused living leads to a simpler lifestyle and a saner schedule. Listen: ‘You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm’ (Isaiah 26:3). (2) You become effective by being selective! If you want your life to have impact, focus it! Don’t confuse activity with productivity. Diffused light has limited impact, but when it’s focused like a laser it can cut through steel. (3) It motivates you! Nothing energizes like clear purpose. It’s meaningless work, not overwork, that wears us down. George Bernard Shaw wrote: ‘This is the true joy of life: being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature instead of a selfish little clot of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.’ (4) It prepares you for eternity! People who spend their lives trying to create a lasting legacy on earth, fail to realize that all achievements are eventually surpassed, all records broken, all reputations fade and all tributes forgotten. Ultimately, what matters most isn’t what others say about you, but what God says. So live with that in view!

Prayer
Heavenly Father – strengthen me to live my life to please you and not necessarily others.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen
