THE LORD’S PRAYER PT 7

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew 6:13

Jesus points out three things we’re not built to handle: the kingdom, the power and the glory. The disciples had no difficulty understanding this. They’d just watched Him calm the worst storm they’d ever been through. In a moment, the sea went from a churning torrent to a peaceful pond. Immediate calm! Not even a ripple. And what was their reaction? Listen: “They were in absolute awe, staggered. ‘Who is this, anyway’? they asked’’ (Mark 4:41). They’d never met anyone like Him. The waves were His subjects and the winds were His servants. And that’s not all; soon they’d see fish jump into the boat, demons dive into pigs, cripples turn into dancers, and corpses become living, breathing people. Never had they experienced such power, never had they seen such glory. Face it, we weren’t made to run a kingdom; nor are we expected to be all-powerful. And we certainly can’t handle the glory. Some of us think we can. We’re self-made. Instead of bowing our knees, we just roll up our sleeves and put in another 12-hour day. Now, that may be enough when it comes to making a living, but when we face our own guilt or our own grave, our own power won’t do the trick. So, Jesus ends His great prayer with a message we must never forget: “Thine, not mine, is the kingdom. Thine, not mine, is the power. Thine, not mine is the glory.” Remember it - and you’ll prosper. Forget it - and you don’t want to know!

Prayer
Heavenly Father – it is all YOU – Your Kingdom, Your Power, Your Glory – not me! Help me to remember that daily in my personal life! In Jesus, Name, Amen

Every time I leave a "no opinion". It always turns out to be 50-50. That other guy and I seem to be the only two leaving comments! I could be early, but how many people are actually scrolling down far enough to know that the opinion survey is there?
