ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM?

And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.
James 2:23

Abraham exemplifies faith at its finest. Born a Gentile, he became a Jew and birthed a new nation from old loins. The Bible says Abraham’s faith was so great that ‘it was credited to him’. Just as we recognize money as a medium of exchange, God accepted Abraham’s faith as a basis of exchange. Consequently, God promised, ‘Wherever you set foot, I’ll give to you. If you can walk it out - it’s yours!’ (Genesis 13:15-17 paraphrased). Are you walking today towards something the enemy says you’ll never have? Are you limping and crawling just to make it? If so, keep going, because when you get to your destination you’ll receive what God promised. Abraham’s faith had to withstand many tests: (a) when he left his kin and country, he hadn’t a clue where God was taking him (b) he wasn’t a warrior, yet he had to battle with the enemy to save his family (c) he believed for a son, even though he was 100 years old and his wife well past childbearing age. As long as you can see your own way clear to solving the problem, God will do nothing. But when all your plots and plans have failed - when your budget’s spent and your bank account is overdrawn - when your life’s in shambles and your earthly supports are gone - God says, “I’m going to bless you.” Those who wanted the credit for your success can step aside, because when you finally reach your destination, you’ll know it wasn’t ‘‘by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord’’! (Zechariah 4:6). So keep walking!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to trust you in my journey in this world and not be discouraged by the obstacles that are before me – trusting you to guide me on the path. In Jesus name, Amen
