Getting the most out of it!
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Don’t just read this devotional - interact with it. Underline it. Write down your thoughts in the margins. Make it your book! Personalize it. To get the most out of it you need: (1) A point to ponder. This is a nugget of truth you can reflect on throughout the day. Paul told Timothy, ‘Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this’ (2 Timothy 2:7). The more you reflect, the more God will reveal! (2) A verse to remember. This verse should encapsulate the truth you’ve just read. If you really want to improve your life, memorizing Scripture may be the most important habit you can begin. Write the verse down on a small card, carry it with you throughout the day, and read it every chance you get. (3) A question to consider. This question should help you think about the implications of what you’ve just read and how it applies to you personally. Writing your thoughts down is the best way to clarify and reinforce them. (4) An action to take. Information turns to transformation only when you do something about what you’ve just read. James writes, ‘But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does’ (James 1:25). Your life is worth taking time to think about! So set time aside each day to do these four things.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to think and act upon your word! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen
