Getting Results - Step 3

'Anoint yourself' Ruth 3:3

Step 3: A new attitude: In Bible times people anointed themselves with oil to feel refreshed and renewed. So when Ruth anointed herself, she was in essence putting on a new attitude. Now understand this: nobody feels anointed all the time; you must put it on. Paul says, ‘Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh’ (Romans 13:14). You have to practice this each day until it becomes part of you. Why? Because on the days when you don’t feel spiritual you still have to deal with the enemy, and he won’t wait until you feel good. No, he’ll kick you when you’re down! To reach the right altitude, you’ve got to have the right attitude! God wants to bless you, but your attitude can hold you back. Here’s what we mean. Have you ever met a sales person who couldn’t sell you anything? Yet when another one came by, you bought immediately, because they approached you differently. If you’re praying for a good job, or a suitable partner, or God’s favor in a certain area, but it hasn’t happened yet, don’t automatically blame Satan - check your attitude. The Bible says, ‘‘let God remake you so that your whole attitude is changed’’ (Romans 12:2 Phillips). The Bible says, ‘Serve the Lord with gladness’’ (Psalm 100:2). Why? Because God doesn’t want you approaching Him like a sourpuss. And there’s an added bonus; as you begin putting on this new attitude, God will begin to replace your ‘spirit of heaviness’ with ‘the garment of praise’ (Isaiah 61:3). So anoint yourself today, and get going!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to have a renewed mind, a new attitude, a new anointing as I move forward with your plan for my life!  In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen
