Making the Boss Look GoodIn the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Jesus said, ‘Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father Who is in heaven’ (Matthew 5:16). ‘What kind of good works?’’ you ask. Your patience and courtesy in stressful situations, your gracious attitude in the midst of difficulty, your willingness to stop and say thank you, apologize when you’re wrong, or interrupt your day to help someone. That’s called ‘making the boss look good!’ Chuck Swindoll writes, ‘I’m just maverick enough to say that I think fewer Christians ought to be going into the ministry, and more should be going into business and occupations that have nothing to do with vocational Christian service. I don’t see life divided into public and private, secular and sacred. It’s all an open place of service before God. Recently I had a delightful talk with a keen-thinking young man at our church. As we visited, I asked him about his future plans. ‘Well, I’ve just graduated from Law School,’ he said. When I asked how he hoped to use his training, he replied, ‘I want to be a man of integrity who practices law.’ Wow! We could use more of those! Whether you’re a judge or a janitor, the same God who used David’s sling, Moses’ rod and the widow’s mite will use you for His glory if only you’ll give yourself to Him fully, and determine to make Him look good in all you do.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to live for You. In all I do, may I do it to the best of my ability, so that glory can be given to You. In Your Precious Name, Amen

Awesome devotion today!! So many Christians feel like spiritual second class citizens if they are not labeled "full time in the ministry." This hurts self esteem and self worth, but God sees our heart and daily life.
