When You Don’t Have The Answer

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  Proverbs 3:5

God won’t tell you what you don’t need to know. Furthermore, He won’t do for you what He’s already told you to do. Stop trying to figure out things that should be left in His hands! When you put something on the shelf that’s bothering you and say you’re going to trust God with it, don’t take it back because you don’t like the way He’s handling it, or the length of time He’s taking to deal with it. Listen: ‘he that believeth shall not make haste’ (Isaiah 28:16). Your mind likes to ‘slot’ things. It needs a place to put everything so that it seems to make sense, and feel ‘taken care of.’  It doesn’t like unanswered questions. But one of the tools God uses to crucify our carnal minds is unanswered questions. When we don’t know, we either (1) trust God (2) worry (3) try to figure it out ourselves. When God doesn’t give us answers to our questions, it’s because He’s training us in trust. Let that sink in! Learn to live with loose ends and trust God! If you want growth, you’ve got to be at peace with the mess that accompanies it. If you are one of God’s obsessive-compulsive children who has to put everything in a neat little package with no loose ends, here’s the Word for you today: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding’ (Proverbs 3:5).

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to trust You and be patient when things don’t always fit the way I want them to fit.  Help me to relax and enjoy life knowing You see and know and are over all things.  Amen

    Hi Tim,

This is a great devotion, and I really like the version quoted at the end -- "do not depend on your own understanding." Job well done.
Hope you and your family are doing well.
    Take care.
