Seeing Him

The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word.
1 Samuel 3:21

God revealed Himself to Moses through a burning bush, but He revealed Himself to Joshua as a military captain. Why the difference? Because Joshua was facing Jericho - the biggest battle of his life - and he needed somebody with a strategy for conquering it. After the resurrection, Jesus appeared as a traveler to Cleopas and his companion – one who answered their questions about the cross and removed their doubts about the resurrection. Looking back, they said, 'Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and... opened the Scriptures to us?’' (Luke 24:32). He can do that for you too! How wonderful! God doesn’t just show up at the right time, He reveals Himself in the right way. Whether it’s a burning bush, a military captain, a travelling companion, or through His Word as He did to Samuel, when God reveals Himself to you, you’ll never be the same again! The question is, are your eyes open to see Him? Are your ears turned to hear Him? In Revelation 3:20 Jesus stands knocking, but nobody hears Him. Inside, it’s ‘business as usual.’ Nobody has even missed Him. What a fearful place to be! At the final judgment some will say, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty... or needing in clothes or sick... and did not help You?' Then He will reply, '... whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me' (See Matthew 25:42-45). Be sensitive today; Jesus may come to you in the form of somebody else’s pain or unmet need. If you miss the opportunity, you’ll miss Him. Make sure that doesn’t happen!

Prayer
Heavenly Father – help me not only listen for You, but to look for You as You come to me through those suffering and in need.  In Your Precious Name I pray, Amen
