Off Limits! But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4:7
2 Corinthians 4:7
Do you know there are people who are literally ‘off limits’ to Satan? It’s not that they’re spiritual giants; it’s not that Satan can’t come all around them; it’s that they’re vital to God’s plans and God is inside of them. Satan CANNOT take them over unless they kick God out of their lives. They’re ordinary clay pots filled with extraordinary ointment. The glory doesn’t come from them - but from what God’s placed inside them. As a result, Satan can’t touch them. We run into problems when we think these people aren’t made from the same stuff as we are; they are! We must always be careful to make the distinction between the treasure and the vessel. Never allow anyone to expect you to be the treasure. Paul says, 'We have this treasure;' he didn’t say we are the treasure. God uses people we’d never use, like Rahab, working the red light district in Jericho. She was well-known in the neighborhood. She was a walking commercial. Her bracelets jingled when she walked down the street so the guys could check her out! But when she placed her faith in God, He used her to help win the Battle of Jericho, and then included her in the family of Christ. Isn’t grace amazing? God specializes in restoring broken vessels. He takes things that aren’t productive... marriages that don’t work... people who’ve failed... and teaches them how to be victorious and fruitful in His service. Knowing this can give you the tenacity and strength to face whatever comes, because you know that when God places His treasure inside you, unless He takes you down, nothing else can!
Prayer
Lord, take my broken pot – remold it, use it, and fill it with Your Spirit, Your purpose, and Your plans for my life! Help me live that assurance! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen
