LEADERSHIP - PART 1Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah 6:8
The need for good leadership has never been clearer, the price has never been higher, the temptations have never been greater. If you’ve been called to lead in any area of life, you’ll need these three qualities: (1) Compassion. Anthony DeMello saw a starving child shivering in the cold. Angrily he lifted his eyes to heaven and said, 'God, why don’t you do something?' God answered, 'I did - I made you!' Leadership is not using others to build your kingdom, it’s loving and serving them in order to build God’s! (2) Creativity. Homer wrote, 'Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.' The story is told of a chicken farmer whose land flooded each spring, killing all his chickens. In despair he told his wife, 'I’ve had it; I can’t afford to buy another place and I can’t sell this one. What can I do?’' Calmly she replied, 'Buy ducks!' The true leader looks for a creative solution in every problem, and then acts on it. (3) Commitment. Real leaders don’t quit - they couldn’t even if they wanted to. One young man said to his pastor, 'It must be really hard living for others, leading an exemplary life, handling all the pressures, setting a good example, knowing that people are waiting for one sign of human frailty so that they can jump on you. How do you handle it?’' Sheepishly he replied, 'I stay at home a lot!' Before you say, 'Lord, send me,' ask yourself, 'Do I have what it takes?'
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me respond to those things you place before me each day that you ask ME to lead, knowing You are always there to walk with me. In Your Precious Name, Amen

Combined with my work for Grace Church, the addition of this AM devotion speeds my day along beautifully.
