Take Off Your Shoes!"Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." Exodus 3:5
Why would God tell Moses to take off his shoes? Because men made shoes, God made feet! Perhaps that’s why God told His people, 'Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours... ' (Deuteronomy 11:24). What’s the point? It’s this: you can stand only on what God has given you. You can walk only in what He’s ordained for you. Any time you launch out without consulting Him or allowing Him to lead, you get into trouble. If God doesn’t order it, He doesn’t pay for it. Listen: 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes... ' (Proverbs 3:5-7). God wants to bring you to the place of total dependence on Him - not your talent, or your intellect, or your connections, just Him! He’ll allow you to use those things, but never to lean on them. When you awoke this morning, you faced these questions: Whose kingdom will be first today, His or mine? Will His will be done in my life on earth, even as it is in heaven? Will His right to rule be honored in every area, including my business, my finances, my family, and my private world? Take off your shoes means: (1) stand only on the Word God has given you (2) walk only in the plan He has ordained for you (3) do nothing in your own strength (4) do all things for His glory alone!
Prayer
Heavenly Father – help me to take off my shoes and rely only on what you provide. All else is sinking sand. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen
