Just What God’s Looking For!'The Father seeketh such to worship him.' John 4:23
Men thought she was a plaything to be toyed with. Women felt threatened by her so they despised her. But Jesus is in the ‘rehab’ business. He looks for treasure in the rubbish and she was just what He was looking for. This redeemed, re-commissioned woman was granted two privileges denied to everybody else: She was the first person ever to introduce the Gospel to Samaria. The disciples had gone there a few days before and came back with a sack of groceries. She went and came back with a harvest of souls! She had impact. Why? Because the greatest testimony of all is a life you can’t explain without God! She was the first person to whom Jesus introduced Himself as Messiah. Why didn’t He do that earlier when He called His disciples, was baptized by John, challenged the religious order of His day by cleansing the Temple, performed His first miracle, or even when He conducted that famous interview with Nicodemus where He said, You must be born again? (See John 3:7). The Bible doesn’t say, but this much is clear; God loves to take the lost, the last, the least and the lowest, and make something beautiful. He invites them to come and be made whole. Why don’t you come too? You’ve nothing to lose except: (a) the baggage of your past (b) the emptiness of your present (c) the sad prospect of a future without God. Today He says, 'Come, drink of the water of life that I give, and you’ll never thirst again' (See John 4:14 ).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, knowing you take the hopeless and give hope and the lowest and make them into something – THERE’S Hope. Thank you, Jesus. Amen
