Is The Crowd Stopping You? When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd. Mark 5:27
We don't know her name, but we know she'd been bleeding for 12 years; suffered under many doctors; spent all she had and grew worse. What Western culture discreetly refers to as a female condition, had devastated this Jewish woman's life. Sexually, she couldn't touch her husband. Maternally, she couldn't have children. Domestically, whatever she touched was considered unclean. Spiritually, she couldn't enter the temple. Now physically exhausted and socially ostracized she thinks, "If I can just touch Jesus I'll be made whole."
But first she had to get through the crowd that stood between her and Him. And so will you! To those who tell you the day of miracles is past, you'll have to say: "There is no day of miracles, there's only a God of miracles and He never changes." To those who tell you, "There are too many hypocrites in the church," you'll have to say, "I'm not looking to Christians, I'm looking to Christ. Others may fail me, but He never will." The crowd has its reasons, but not one of them is worth missing Jesus for.
When this woman finally got to Jesus, two things happened: (1) He made her whole. Her faith summoned His immediate response - and yours will too! (2) She's the only woman He ever called "daughter" (vs. 34). Imagine how she must have felt! She probably couldn't remember when she'd last heard a kind word! Today Jesus is within range of your prayers and your faith. So reach out, touch Him and be made whole!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, it may seem at times that I am trying to touch you, the reality is that you are touching me. Help me sense your touch and your presence and your healing in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
