Refuse To Give Less Than Your Best

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.  Proverbs 22:29

Both his wife and his mother were deaf. Maybe that’s why Alexander Graham Bell’s passion was to change the way people communicated with each other. For five frustrating, impoverished years he experimented with a variety of materials in an effort to make a metal disk that, vibrating in response to sound, could reproduce those sounds and send them over an electrified wire. During a visit to Washington, DC, he called on Joseph Henry, a pioneer in electrical research, and asked for his advice. Should he let somebody else perfect the telephone, or do it himself?  'Do it yourself,' the old pioneer told him. When Bell complained about his lack of electrical knowledge, Henry said, 'If you don’t have it, get it!' So Bell studied electricity day and night. A year later, while obtaining a patent for the telephone, the officials at the patent office credited him with knowing more about electricity than all the other inventors of his day combined. What were his keys to success? (1) vision (2) hard work (3) study (4) hope (5) persistence - and the Bible emphasizes every one of them! What is it that burns within you? That unlocks your creativity? That energizes you? That could be the key to your future. Don’t neglect it! Don’t fear it! Don’t put if off! Nehemiah started out as a waiter, yet he ended up rebuilding the whole city of Jerusalem. Why? Because he heard the cry nobody else heard, saw a need nobody else was meeting, and said 'Yes!' That’s all God requires of you today!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to act on your voice that tells me and shows me what it is you want me to do knowing that you will help me through all that you have planned.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen

This is just what I needed to hear today! But now I have a struggle. As a 50 year old pastor who desires to relocate to the Midwest, do I go to school? Am I too old? How do I support my wife and family? Your prayers would be appreciated.
