The Divine ArchitectUnless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Psalm 127:1
If God has already built the house, why would anybody else labor to build it? Because God’s the architect: we’re the carpenters! We simply manifest in time what He’s already designed in eternity. It works like this: the architect first 'sees' his plan, then he gives it to the builders to begin work. But all the plans are in place before the first spade full of soil is moved. Think: God’s plan for you was in place before you were even born. His blueprint for you included every detail necessary, from start to finish. Listen: 'Like an open book, all the stages of my life were spread out before You' (Ps 139:16). That means, when you try to design a plan that’s different from His, you 'labor in vain.' But when you yield to His plan and allow Him to work through you, you begin to enjoy 'the blessed life.' Today, your only obligation is to choose what God has already chosen for you; to say 'yes' to what He’s designed for you. Paul says, ‘Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.’ (2 Tim 2:15). You’re to be a workman who’s developed all his capacities, talents, and spiritual assets; then, when the time comes to employ them for God’s purposes, you can perform with excellence. What a way to live!
Prayer
Heavenly Father – help me remember my role – not an architect but a carpenter for you! Once I get that straight – well things start coming together. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
