Do you care?If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 1 John 3:17
Gordon MacDonald writes, “Years ago I flew to Minneapolis to speak. When my taxi stopped, I noticed a homeless man lurching between the cars. When he got close to us he fell. I heard the thud. His chin split open and there was blood everywhere. 'As I got out and looked, these thoughts went through my head: (a) I'm wearing a brand new suit, I can't afford to get it messed up (b) I've got to speak at a conference in 15 minutes (c) I'm in a strange city; I don't know what to do. Underneath was another thought, 'If you're dumb enough to get drunk, why should I stop and help you?' 'I'm ashamed of this. I can't believe a Bible-believing Christian could find those thoughts in the filing cabinets of his soul. Before I could come to better senses, other people came rushing to his help and I was able to go on to the conference - to speak about sensitivity and caring for the needs of other human beings!”
Before Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem, he first wept over the ruins. Alan Redpath writes, “You never lighten the load for others until you've first felt the pressure in your own soul.” Want to be more like Jesus? Listen, “When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36 NIV). How do you look at hurting people? Do you care?
Prayer
Heavenly Father – my sinful mind can always come up with excuses not to respond to the needs you place before me. Forgive me and help my mind be transformed into your mind and help me to respond to the opportunities you place each day before me! In Jesus' Name, Amen

Hello to anyone who knows me! I liked your story Tim about the drunken man and your new suit. It proves once again we are human and Jesus is the only perfect one. No matter how hard we try we will never attain the sinless life of Jesus. Somehow I too think because I am a Christian I should not have these thoughts. But we repent and maybe the next time is better!!

Tim,
Love having the option to LISTEN to your devotions. Sometimes I find myself "skimming" your written word with the pressures of the day - how bad is that! I'm farmore tuned into the spoken word - and your melodious voice! For me it adds better understanding and absorbtion. THX! Today's - excellent
